PURPOSE: The Deacon of Ministry Support shall be responsible for all fiscal assets and properties of the congregation, and the materials/manpower necessary for operating all parish church facilities, including technology.
OBJECTIVES:
Oversee all aspects of the congregation’s financial management
Oversee all aspects of the maintenance and upkeep of all church property and equipment
Oversee all elements of the technological support of the congregation’s ministry
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Recruit and supervise the superintendent of Building & Grounds and approve all managers serving under the
Superintendent as defined in Bylaw Article 8(c)
• Recruit and supervise the Treasurer of the Congregation and approve all who serve on the Finance Committee under the
Treasurer as defined in Bylaw Article 8(d)
• Recruit and supervise the Technology Director and approve all coordinators serving under the Technology Director as defined in Bylaw Article 8(e)
• Supervise the acquisition of major assets and real property for the church
• Facilitate a process of policy development and compliance for all elements of ministry under his responsibility bringing
forward all policy proposals he deems appropriate to the Parish Council for discussion and approval
• Personally perform a semi-annual tour of all church facilities
• Provide updates to the Parish Council and Congregational Assembly on the condition of all facilities and plant assets of
the congregation
• Supervise the activities of the budget committee in assistance of the Treasurer who will serve as the chair of the annual
budget process as defined in Bylaw Article 8(f)
• Appoint an audit committee of adult communicant members (who are not serving as called workers, deacons, elders or
have any other inherent conflicts of interest). This committee will analyze the financial records of the congregation and
formally report their findings to the Presiding Elder in preparation for the annual meeting.
• Furnish, when requested, all necessary records for the audit committee
• Prepare quarterly update reports for the Parish Council
• Prepare and present an annual report of activities to the Presiding Elder and the Presiding Elder’s Committee
