PURPOSE: The Associate Presiding Deacon is to serve in the place of the Presiding Deacon when circumstances warrant. The A.P.D. shall be responsible for the consistent care of all compensated staff members, the strategic and long term planning of the congregation’s ministry and the supervision or all ad hoc projects the congregation endeavors.
OBJECTIVES:
Provide assistance to the Presiding Deacon, and when situations warrant, serve in the place of the Presiding Deacon
Oversee all aspects of the congregation’s care of all compensated workers
Oversee all aspects of the congregation’s long term and strategic planning
Oversee all aspects of all ad hoc projects the congregation endeavors
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist, and when necessary, work in the stead of the Presiding Deacon
• Chair the Staff Care and Compensation Committee as defined in Bylaw Article 8(a)
• Chair the Long Range / Strategic Planning Committee as defined in Bylaw Article 8(b)
• Lead the annual review of all compensation/employment policies
• Facilitate a process of policy development and compliance for all elements of ministry under his responsibility bringing
forward all policy proposals he deems appropriate to the Parish Council for discussion and approval
• Lead the preparation of the congregation's budget for all compensation of the congregation’s workers
• Furnish, when requested, all necessary records for the audit committee
• Prepare quarterly update reports for the Parish Council
• Prepare and present an annual report of activities to the Presiding Elder and the Presiding Elder’s Committee
