Miscellaneous Information:

Sara was born on May 3, 1972 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Jim and Bonnie Goede. Her one older brother Andy lives in Franklin, Wisconsin with his wife Shelley and their four children. Sara attended St. Jacobi Lutheran School in Greenfield, Wisconsin from kindergarten through eighth grade. She then went on to attend Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee for four years, graduating in May 1990.

In the last half of her senior year one of her religion teachers began asking Sara to consider the teaching ministry as a career. That teacher persuaded her to make a visit to Dr. Martin Lutheran College in New Ulm, Minnesota. Even though Sara had already been accepted at UW Eau Claire and planned on attending there she agreed to visit the New Ulm campus. The Lord’s plan for Sara’s life had begun to unfold after she returned from her visit to DMLC. She decided not to attend Eau Claire but rather pursue the teaching ministry. In May of 1994 Sara received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education for grades K-8 with a concentration in English from the WELS ministry training college.

In mid July of 1994 Sara was assigned a one-year call to teach fourth grade here at Faith Lutheran. Her one-year call was made permanent as she continued to teach 4th grade, coach cheerleading, assist with forensics, teach VBS, and work with the PTO. In August 2003 after teaching 4th grade for 9 years Sara moved across the hall to teach 2nd grade for the next school year. At the end of that year Sara celebrated her 10th year in the teaching ministry having served all ten of those years here at Faith!

The next school year Sara served part time as the extended learning teacher. She was excited to be given this opportunity in the first year Faith offered such a program. The 2005/06 school year brought about more change and another new opportunity. Sara team taught in preschool. This was a fun and challenging experience as this was quite a leap from the age level of children Sara had taught before. The 2007/08 school year brought yet another transition as Sara also taught half day kindergarten. A number of school years saw annual transitions in Early Childhood Education staffing at Faith. The 2012/13 school year followed that pattern. It brought one last move for Sara! Since then she been the lead teacher in the preschool wing teaching the 3 & 4 year old pre-kindergarteners.

Keeping up to date in the field of education is of paramount importance to Sara. She actively attends workshops during the school year. Having taught now at the Early Childhood level for a number of years she is also pursuing taking classes for credits towards an Early Childhood degree.

On November 26 of 1999 Sara married Aron Fendel. The Lord has blessed them with two boys Eli and Noah. Sara had the privilege of teaching them both in Faith ECE ministry. Eli is finishing his second year at Shoreland Lutheran High School, while Noah is finishing his eighth grade year at Faith Lutheran. Aron continues his long time service on the Antioch Police Department. Sara enjoys being the mom of two very active boys and loves to spend as much time as she can with her family. When she can find some free time in her busy schedule Sara also enjoys shopping, reading, listening to music, watching movies and catching up with friends.
