PURPOSE: The Deacon of Parish Instruction shall initiate, coordinate and oversee all programs of instruction that serve the spiritual needs of all members of the congregation that are not part of Faith School Ministries.

OBJECTIVES:
Work with called staff and volunteers to produce and maintain a comprehensive Bible study curriculum for all members, from birth to adulthood

Establish and guide small group ministry programs

Provide oversight and leadership contact for all instruction oriented auxiliary organizations of the congregation such as Lutheran Pioneers, Lutheran Girl Pioneers, Wisdom of the Ages, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Chair the adult Bible study effort of the congregation, including comprehensive curriculum development

 Recruit, train, mentor and supervise all members who serve as instructors in the congregation

 Initiate and oversee an active instructional ministry to college age members and prospects

 Chair the annual seasonal youth instruction program – VBS, Christmas 4 Kids, Easter 4 Kids, etc.

 Chair the Youth Education Committee working with the called staff and volunteers to establish and direct a variety of youth oriented instruction programs, including
Cradle Roll Parent and Toddler Education Program
Sunday School Youth Confirmation Classes Comprehensive Junior High & High School Ministry programs Youth Recreational Programs (involving all the congregations youth) forward all policy proposals he deems appropriate to the Parish Council for discussion and approval

 Lead the annual process of ministry and budget planning for parish instruction

 Furnish, when requested, all necessary records for the audit committee

 Prepare quarterly update reports for the Parish Council

 Oversee parental education / support groups focused on spiritual training and devotional life in the home

 Recruit, train, mentor and supervise all individuals serving in the congregation's youth programs

 Facilitate a process of policy development and compliance for all elements of ministry under his responsibility bringing

 Prepare and present an annual report of activities to the Presiding Elder and the Presiding Elder’s Committee
