Miscellaneous Information:

Keith Kopczynski was born in Detroit, Michigan, in the late 1950’s. Before Keith reached school age, his family moved to Gross Pointe Park, a suburb of Detroit. As an adolescent, the Kopczynski family moved again, this time to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In all of these family moves, both their Christian faith and their love of any and all Detroit sports teams remained strong.

After graduation from high school, Keith joined the United States Coast Guard. During his seven years in the military, Keith had a tour of Europe, was stationed in Portland, Maine; in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; and in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. It was at his last station, Sturgeon Bay, that he met his future wife, Door County native Priscilla.

After the Coast Guard, Keith received his Bachelor of Science in elementary education, with a minor in science, from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Keith’s first teaching call was to Faith, Dexter, Michigan. Keith taught grades four through eight, was principal, coach for all sports, athletic director, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School director. Keith was active in the school conferences as treasurer for the Southeast District Schools, and even designed and began the church’s adult co-ed softball league. He also earned his Master’s Degree in Teaching K-12 Curriculum from Eastern Michigan University during this time. He holds state teaching certificates in Michigan and in Illinois.

Having added three children to their family, the Kopczynskis left Michigan when Keith accepted his present Call to Faith, Antioch. Here, Keith has been Sunday School and Vacation Bible School superintendent, has directed the Children’s Christmas service, coached softball, track, cross country, floor hockey, and forensics. He heads the Faith science department, and has led various workshops for teachers in Illinois and Wisconsin on using science in the classroom. He has held the position of Chairman of the Program Committee for the Lake Lutheran Teachers’ Conference, and currently serves as Athletic Director of Faith School.

After their move to the Antioch area Keith and Priscilla added an additional three children to their family. The kids are all alumni of Faith Lutheran School, are all out of high school and pursuing life beyond the homestead. The Kopczynski family lives in Bristol, Wisconsin, and is active in various community projects and events.

Keith will tell you that the blessings of serving in ministry continue to uplift and brighten his spirit.
