Miscellaneous Information:

Teri Johnson was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School and went on to graduate from St. Croix Lutheran High School of West St. Paul, Minnesota. She then enrolled at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. (Now known as Martin Luther College, MLC is the WELS college preparing pastors, teachers and staff ministers for service in our church body.) In 1974 Teri graduated from DMLC with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a concentration in mathematics.

Her first Call through the WELS assignment committee brought her to the tiny community of Antioch, Illinois in the summer of 1974. How different this area was compared to the urban life of a large city! She began her career by teaching grades three, four, and five at Faith Lutheran School here in Antioch. Coaching also became a large part of her duties, becoming responsible for girls’ basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, and softball.

On August 1, 1981, she married Rick Johnson. Teri and Rick, who is actively involved in Faith’s Radio Ministry, WFEL 99.9 FM, reside in Antioch. They have been active in the foster care program of Allendale, a residential facility in Lake Villa, Illinois. Over the years, they have parented several foster children. They have one son, Rick, who also lives in the Antioch area.

Throughout her many years of service at Faith Lutheran School, Teri has taught grades two through five, many times in a multiple grade setting. She currently teaches Faith’s third/fourth grade class. Bringing God’s word to the young children has always been a great joy for her.

Teri has grown to love the area, and the surrounding urban cities. The hobbies that keep her busy when class is not in session include basket collecting, stamping, and needlecrafts.
